Four women from Nepal were arrested along with their parents for allegedly duping around 3,000 women.
The women had earned crores by duping people.The police in Dehradun arrested four sisters who used to run a ‘kitty racket’. The racket was being operated from Dehradun and as per the police, the four accused women are from Dehradun. The women had targeted around 3,000 women through their racket.
The four accused women had convinced their targets to invest around Rs 10 crore in their kitty. They used to operate in Kedarpur. The four sisters were identified as Meenakshi Kharti, Mona, Madhuri and Manisha. The incident came to light when a woman named Vidhya Bhatt approached the police in June 2019. The woman told the cops that Meenakshi had been running a kitty with the help of her parents and sisters.
The parents of the four women were identified as Lal Bahadur and Sunita. Bhatt claimed that the women had taken Rs 5 lakh from her and had not paid the amount even after the kitty matured. When Bhatt asked for the money, the four women allegedly refused to pay it, The Times of India reported.
The police acted on the aggrieved woman’s complaint and located the accused. An investigation revealed that the four women had duped around 2,500-3,000 women over the last few years. The women allegedly conducted their transactions at hotels.
The women’s mother was arrested while the other members of the family were absconding. However, after a tip-off, the police arrested the rest of the family members. As per police inputs, the women hail from Nepal and had been living in India for the last one year.
