The weather forecasting agency, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is developing a flood warning system. The flood warning system is developing for Bengaluru and Kolkata. This was announced by M. Rajeevan,Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences.
The IMD has already developed a flood warning system for Mumbai and Chennai. The system for Mumbai was launched in June.
