The extremely unfavorable and unprecedented times COVID-19 brought about have only increased problems than giving respite from the same. This situation has caused distress as well. Being unemployed, stress and problems are at an all-time high, and relief from the same is not expected anytime soon. For Lusindiso Malgas, the lockdown took away his one and only job with which he was feeding his children. Hailing from Cape Town in South Africa, he used to work in a retail store when his livelihood was snatched away from him. Having three children, this is a situation he had not even imagined this would happen to him.
He used this opportunity to take to the streets with placards consisting of cheeky captions to get the attention of the daily commuters. He is actively posting on his Instagram page called ‘sign_diso’. Some of them were on the point where the puns were concerned. “Cereal Killer Spare Cash for Milk,” one poster said. Another one hilariously asked for money to refuel his private jet. While holding them up, he always had a smile on his face. Malgas talked about his comedic streak which was evident ever since his school days, “When I was young and in school, I wrote funny sentences on the blackboard when the teacher wasn’t there and the class laughed so hard. So I took this and put the same idea on the placards.” This little initiative started by him has been received with a lot of love. The people stop and greet him as well as tip him for what he does.
