Senior Congress leader Kamal Nath during the election campaign for the Madhya Pradesh by-polls, escalated the verbal duel with BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday hit back at the former chief minister for allegedly calling him a dog. Addressing a poll rally in Shadora in Ashok Nagar district, Scindia said that he was a dog and the public was his owner, adding that he would “bite those who bring corrupt and ill-intended policies for his owner”. “Kamal Nath came here in Ashok Nagar and said that I’m a dog. Kamla Nath Ji, please listen, yes, I am a dog because my owner is this public, whom I serve. Yes, I’m a dog because it protects its owner and if someone brings corrupt and ill-intended policies then this dog will bite that person,” the BJP leader said while campaigning for BJP ahead of by-elections to 28 Assembly seats in the state on November 3.

The by-elections to 28 Assembly seats were necessitated following the switching over of 25 Congress MLAs to the BJP. The results will be announced on November 10. In March, Scindia had joined the BJP after quitting the Congress party. Following his resignation, 22 rebel Congress MLAs in Madhya Pradesh -Scindia’s loyalists also quit the party and joined the BJP, leading to the collapse of the 15-month-old Congress-led government in the state.
