Tamil Nadu; Two children sank in the pond of a temple at Sithalingamadam near Villupuram on the night of January 9. The victims were recognized as M. Keerthana, 12, and K. Mahalakshmi, 5.
According to the reports, Keerthana was a student of class VII in a private school in Hosur in Krishnagiri district, who had come to her grandmother’s house in Sithalingamadam for the holidays. Mahalakshmi was a student of class I studying in a private school in Thiruvennainallur.

While having a holy dip in Brahmakund, the three children began drowning as they moved into deep water. An alert was raised and swimmers attempted to save them but could rescue only Anshul, the youngest child. When they failed to return after some time, the families began a quest and discovered their bodies floating in the pond. A case has been recorded.
