On Saturday, Interfax news agency cited Bloomberg as stating that Finnish President Sauli Niinisto spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone regarding Helsinki’s aspirations to join NATO.
Russia has stated that Finland’s membership in NATO poses a threat to which it will respond, but has not stated how it will do so.
