In the midst of the controversy over the AIADMK’s unitary leader in Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami, the party’s joint coordinator, responded for the first time, saying that attempts were being made to weaken the party. The AIADMK’s general council meeting is set for June 23. The AIADMK currently has two leaders: O Panneerselvam as coordinator and Edappadi K Palaniswami as joint coordinator.
Voices demanding unitary leadership in the AIADMK were raised during a meeting on June 14 to discuss resolutions to be passed during the meeting, shocking OPS. The incident, on the other hand, didn’t shock EPS. Since then, the two leaders have come to an impasse, with OPS requesting that the general council meeting be postponed after several failed attempts.
EPS reacted nearly nine days after the issues emerged. ‘No one can defeat the party. Few are trying to weaken it but their attempts won’t succeed,’ EPS said while meeting with the party’s IT Wing leaders and urging them to maintain their work and support.
