Lightning strike in Assam’s Udalguri; Three killed including minor girls, pregnant woman.

On Monday night, a lightning strike in Assam’s Udalguri district killed two minor girls, ages 13 and 15, as well as a 20-year-old pregnant woman. According to reports, the woman was seven months pregnant.

 

 

The incident occurred along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in the rural Mazbat area of the Alaisri village. According to reports, lightning struck the trio while they were having dinner, killing them. A few livestock in the area were also killed by the lightning hit.

 

The Mazbat police station had to travel 14 kilometres through the forests to reach the place. The bodies were then taken to Mazbat and subjected to a post-mortem examination.

 

According to a representative from the Udalguri district administration, ‘We received information that three women have been killed in a lightning strike. Police and officials from the district administration reached the spot and now we are trying to extend all possible help to the families of the victims. It is very sad that such an incident took place in our district.’
