According to the governor of Kaliningrad, the Russian foreign ministry will call European Union ambassador to Moscow Markus Ederer on Tuesday to discuss Lithuania’s prohibition on the transportation of products subject to EU sanctions through Kaliningrad.
Vilnius, citing EU sanction laws, has prohibited the transit of commodities subject to European Union sanctions through Lithuanian territory to and from the Russian exclave sandwiched between Lithuania and Poland.
‘Of course, this is an issue that can be managed diplomatically,’ Kaliningrad Governor Anton Alikhanov told Russian television. ‘As far as I know, the European Union ambassador to Russia, Marcus Ederer, will be summoned to the foreign ministry tomorrow…. and he will be informed of the necessary conditions involved here,’ says the source.
Russian foreign ministry did not confirm the information.
