Sharad Pawar says, No question of going with BJP if Maha govt falls

Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has stated that he will not join the BJP even if the Maharashtra government falls. After the results of the MLC votes were announced yesterday, political chaos erupted as Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and 26 other Maharashtra MLAs camped out at a resort in Surat and went incommunicado.

In the MLC election, the opposition BJP came out on top. This is thought to be due to cross-voting by some MLAs. According to Sena leader Sanjay Raut, this was an attempt to disrupt Maharashtra’s Sena-led government.

Sharad Pawar, the NCP head, told the media that his party was unified and that Eknath Shinde’s rebellion was an internal affair for the Sena. ‘I hope they resolve their differences soon. We are not scared,’ he said. ‘There is no question of going with BJP even if the Maharashtra government falls,’ added Sharad Pawar.

‘He never told us about his CM ambitions; I am sure Uddhav Thackeray will handle the situation,’ the NCP president stated of Eknath Shinde’s condition. ‘There are no differences in the alliance and all have full confidence in the leadership of Thackeray,’ he told reporters.

Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), claimed that this was the third attempt to destabilise Maharashtra’s Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. He did, however, express confidence in Chief Minister Udhhav Thackeray’s ability to manage the crisis.
