On Saturday, police clashed with Kurdish protestors in Paris for the second day after a gunman killed three members of their community.
Cars were overturned, at least one vehicle was burned, shop windows were shattered, and small fires were started near Republic Square, a traditional demonstration site where Kurds had previously protested peacefully.
The reason for the sudden violent turn in the protest, according to Paris police chief Laurent Nunez, is unknown.
