At the Cochin International Airport on Saturday, customs investigators recovered gold worth Rs 21.5 lakh from a traveller.
Nasar of Valanchery in Malappuram, the suspect, was detained at the green channel carrying 489 grammes of gold after flying from Sharjah on an Air India Express flight.
Nasar was allegedly carrying 265 grammes of paste-like gold in a capsule-shaped packet buried in Nasar’s rectum, along with 224 grammes of compound gold in the form of a rectangular strap.
