Mar Former Roman Catholic Archbishop of Changanacherry Joseph Powathil is no more. He was 92.
He succeeded Mar Antony Padiyara, the latter Cardinal, as Metropolitan Archbishop of Changanassery Archdiocese in 1985. Before then, he served as the Bishop of the Kanjirapally Diocese after being ordained there in 1977.
He resigned as Changanasery Archbishop in late 2006 and has served as Metropolitan Emeritus since then.
Born on August 14, 1930, he was ordained a Bishop in 1962.
