Publisher Badri Seshadri arrested for remarks against judiciary on YouTube Channel

A prominent figure in the publishing world, 58-year-old Badri Seshadri, who is the founder of Kizhakku Pathippagam, a well-known publishing house in Tamil Nadu, was arrested by Perambalur police. The arrest followed his controversial remarks against the judiciary during an interview on a YouTube channel. The police conducted the arrest at his residence on Warren Street in Mylapore early on a Saturday.

He was charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 153 A (1) (a) (promoting enmity between groups through words), and 505 (1) (b) (causing fear and alarm in public), by Kunnam Police.

Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai expressed support for the detained publisher and criticized the state government, accusing them of suppressing the voice of the common man.

The arrest has sparked discussions on freedom of expression and has drawn attention to the delicate balance between free speech and respecting judicial institutions. As the situation unfolds, further developments and reactions from various quarters are anticipated.
