Actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has joined the widespread criticism of an inaccurately portrayed waxwork of himself on display at a Paris museum, with a particular focus on its skin color. Following the internet’s resounding mockery of the Grevin Museum’s botched representation of him, Dwayne Johnson turned to Instagram to announce his team’s intention to reach out to the museum for necessary adjustments.
In his Instagram post, he wrote, “Just for the record, my team will be getting in touch with our friends at the Grevin Museum in Paris, France, so we can collaborate on enhancing the accuracy of my wax figure, starting with ensuring the correct skin color. And the next time I’m in Paris, I’ll make sure to drop by and share a drink with my wax self.”
The wax figure of Johnson made its debut on social media last week, introduced by the Grevin Museum, which typically draws nearly 800,000 visitors annually. However, a promotional photo of the new statue generated a wave of reactions from Johnson’s fans, ranging from bewilderment to frustration. One commenter humorously remarked that the figure resembled an “Eastern European plumber.”
Notably, the Grevin museum had previously faced a similar backlash in 2018 when they unveiled an unflattering wax figure of French President Emmanuel Macron.
