Mallu Traveler Vlogger to Return Home After Interim Anticipatory Bail in Assault Case Granted by HC.

YouTube vlogger Shakir Subhan, known as ‘Mallu Traveler’, is set to return home after the Kerala High Court granted him interim anticipatory bail in a sexual assault case brought against him by a Saudi woman.

Last Friday, the High Court approved Subhan’s bail with the stipulation that he must not leave Kerala and must produce his passport. In a Facebook post, Subhan expressed his anticipation of reuniting with his family and his beloved home, stating, “Returning home after a month of adventures and experiences. Looking forward to being reunited with my family, sharing stories, and the familiar comfort of my beloved home.”

Prior to this, Subhan had refuted claims of a lookout notice issued by the Ernakulam Central Police, asserting on social media that such reports were false and that there was no immediate need to return home due to what he deemed a false case. He wrote, “I will return only after completing the things I intended to do when leaving home,” acknowledging that he expected to face challenges until he could prove his innocence. Reports had indicated that Subhan, who was abroad at the time, had been summoned for police interrogation in relation to the case.

The complaint alleges that on September 13, Subhan invited the foreign national to a hotel in Ernakulam under the pretext of an interview and attempted to assault her. The complaint was lodged with the Ernakulam Central police, leading to the registration of a case under Section 354 (Outraging the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code against Subhan, who boasts a YouTube following of over 2.71 million.

Despite the accusations, Subhan continues to assert the falsehood of the complaint and is determined to fight the case with substantial evidence, while also harboring suspicions of a possible honeytrap scenario.
