Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter claims, mother manhandled, stopped from staging pro-Palestine march

Iltija Mufti, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), charged the Jammu and Kashmir government with preventing them from holding a protest in favour of Palestine on Tuesday.

Iltija Mufti said during a news conference that Mehbooba Mufti was violently assaulted by security personnel in Srinagar when she attempted to peacefully demonstrate in solidarity of Palestinian civilians.

‘When Mehbooba Mufti wanted to protest for Palestine, she was almost manhandled. She was not allowed to protest peacefully. I want to ask why the local administration has consistently been cracking down on the PDP? You denounce us as anti-national. But the activities that we want to do are peaceful,’ she said.

Iltija made his words during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has already killed over 5,000 lives. ‘People from all around the world are turning out to show their support for the Palestinian civilians who are experiencing crimes. Bombs made of phosphorous are being used to attack them. In the previous two weeks, at least 1,500 kids have been killed,’ she claimed.

‘Let us not forget the Indian government’s official position is that they have condemned Israel’s aggression. Israel is flouting humanitarian international law and has cut medical and electricity supplies. Why is the local administration selectively targeting the PDP?’ Iltija added.

India has strongly denounced the terrorist strikes that Hamas launched against Israel on October 7, which sparked a conflict that has now lasted 18 days.

‘Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour,’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on social media, X.

India has donated 38.5 tonnes of emergency supplies and medical help to the Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip, which is under Hamas rule.
