Prabhu’s journey from a humble background to the silver screen has been nothing short of remarkable. It came as a surprise to his parents, Murukan and Padma, to see their son sharing the screen with Thalapathy Vijay in the blockbuster movie ‘Leo.’ Prabhu’s dedication to his dream of becoming a star is evident in his words: “Apart from a couple of my friends, I kept this a secret. I even hid being part of the film from my brother Prakash. He knows how devastated I was after failing to be a part of ‘Master.'”
In ‘Leo,’ Prabhu portrayed a gang member, and his passion for Thalapathy made it a challenging role, as he had to fight against his idol in the climax. He also played a crucial role in the casting team, handpicking several actors who received prominent roles in the film.
Prabhu’s journey began in Kalluthankadavu Colony, Kozhikode, where he grew up. His determination to become an actor led him to Chennai after completing high school. However, he faced disappointments and financial challenges, as he shared, “Surviving as a junior artist is tough. The meagre remuneration hardly covers travel and accommodation expenses.”
Despite these setbacks, Prabhu’s persistence led him to the ‘Master’ set, even though he was initially rejected. He joined the casting team of ‘Leo’ thanks to the guidance of the junior artist coordinator, Ganesh. Prabhu considers himself fortunate to work in the casting team of director Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Prabhu’s journey in the film industry has been a slow but steady one. Apart from ‘Leo,’ he has been part of the casting team for various other films and has worked as an assistant director in ‘Roy.’ His passion for acting extends to creating reels, appearing in short films, and advertisements.
Despite his pursuit of an acting career, Prabhu holds an ITI diploma in Mechanical Engineering and works for a private telecom company. His family members, including his father Murugan, who is a cook, and his mother Padma, who collects non-degradable waste, have supported him on this extraordinary journey. Prabhu’s younger brother, Prakash, works as a driver, and together, they represent the spirit of determination and resilience.
