The leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Mohan Bhagwat, claimed on Tuesday that ‘cultural Marxists and woke elements’ are destroying the nation’s culture and education through their influence in the media and academia.
Speaking at the RSS Dussehra gathering in Nagpur, Mohan Bhagwat claimed that since the 1920s, people have forgotten Marx and are now trying to establish ‘discrimination and separation’ in society.
‘These selfish, discriminatory and deceitful forces seeking their sectarian interests are making efforts to disrupt social cohesion and promote conflict. They wear various cloaks. Some of them call themselves cultural Marxists or woke,’ news agency PTI quoted Bhagwat as saying.
Cultural Marxists, according to Bhagwat, encourage, reward, and spread disorder. ‘They take control of the media and academia, and plunge education, culture, politics and social environment into confusion, chaos, and corruption,’ he said.
The annual Vijayadashmi Utsav of the RSS got underway earlier today in Nagpur with a workers’ ‘Path Sanchalan’ (route march). Shankar Mahadevan, a singer and composer, was the special guest.
Both Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari attended the occasion.
