In a tragic incident on Monday at a Durga Puja pandal in Bihar’s Gopalganj district, a five-year-old boy and two women lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries in a stampede, according to the police. The pandal, located in the Raja Dal locality of the town, was densely packed with devotees when the unfortunate incident occurred. Swarna Prabhat, the Superintendent of Police, explained that the chaos erupted as worshippers were queuing up to receive “prasad.” It was during this rush that the young child fell to the ground, prompting two elderly women to bend down in an attempt to shield him from the crush of the crowd.
This distressing situation resulted in injuries to 13 women and the child, all of whom were promptly transported to Sadar Hospital. Tragically, the five-year-old boy and the two elderly women succumbed to their injuries, while the others were reported to be in stable condition. To maintain control of the situation, the police sealed off the area surrounding the incident site.
