According to authorities, six individuals died on Tuesday in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand when their car fell into the Kali river close to Lakhanpur.
According to Pithoragarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Lokeshwar Singh, the incident happened late at night on the Dharchula-Lipulekh route when the victims were returning from a ‘darshan’ of Adi Kailash.
According to him, four of them were from Telangana, two from Uttarakhand, and two from Bengaluru.
Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, expressed sorrow over the fatalities in the accident and prayed for their families.
The SP claimed that owing to darkness and unfavorable geographic circumstances, work on recovering the bodies could not begin.
He stated that the search operation would begin on Wednesday morning.
