During a Dussehra procession in Maharashtra’s Satara district, nine children suffered burns when a generator caught fire. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in the Koli Aali area of Mahabaleshwar, a renowned hill station in the state. According to the police, the generator was mounted on a vehicle transporting an idol of Goddess Durga for immersion. The generator overheated and ignited due to the presence of a nearby can of petrol. As a result, nine children who were seated in a corner of the adorned vehicle sustained burn injuries. They were promptly transported to hospitals in both Satara and Pune.
Superintendent of Police Sameer Shaikh provided reassurance by confirming that all the children are in stable condition and are currently receiving medical treatment at various hospitals.
