In the culmination of the group stage competition on Tuesday, Kerala secured their spot in the Santosh Trophy National Football Championship final round. Having finished second in Group A, they qualified as one of the three best second-placed teams. Goa, Delhi, Manipur, Assam, Services, and Maharashtra led their groups, while Mizoram, Kerala, and Railways earned their places as the best second-placed teams.
The final round, set to take place in Itanagar, will see the defending champions Karnataka, runners-up Meghalaya, and hosts Arunachal Pradesh join the nine qualifiers. These 12 teams will be divided into two groups of six, with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinals.
Notably, Kerala’s journey this year represents a comeback after failing to qualify for the semifinals in the previous season.
