During her participation as the chief guest at Vignan’s University’s 11th graduation ceremony, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, highlighted India’s tremendous potential and global opportunities. She revealed that 13 significant foreign startup companies are preparing to invest in India, with a notable commitment that all of their products will be manufactured in India and then exported worldwide.
Furthermore, Minister Sitharaman encouraged students to consider diverse career paths beyond the traditional software and IT sectors. She emphasized the importance of research in fields such as new materials, rare minerals, material science, drone technology, and natural gas technology. Underlining the significance of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, she praised India’s accomplishments in space exploration, including ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission, and affirmed the government’s commitment to launching a manned mission by 2040.
Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy urged students to seize these opportunities and celebrated the graduation ceremony as a platform to commemorate their academic achievements, professional accomplishments, and the support of their loved ones. The event also recognized and awarded honorary doctorates to prominent individuals, including Subbarao Pavuluri, founder of Ananth Technologies, Hyderabad; SP Vasireddy, executive chairman of Vimta Labs Limited, Hyderabad; and Indian chess player Koneru Hampi. In total, 1,820 students were granted degrees. The head of Vignan’s Educational Institutions, Lavu Rathaiah, stressed the importance of determination and resilience as students venture into society with their degrees.
