At the Urapakkam railway station in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday, three children were struck and killed by a train as they attempted to cross the tracks. Two of the three kids were speech and hearing impaired.
They have been named as 11-year-old Manjunath, who was in Urapakkam to spend the holiday weekend with his extended family, Suresh, 15, and Ravi, 10, both of whom have speech impairments.
According to officials, the kids were playing close to the tracks when they attempted to cross when they were struck by the train. It was a commuter train running between Chengalpattu and Beach Station. They said that all three were immediately slain.
Authorities from the Railway Police and Guduvancheri Police arrived at the scene and removed the bodies from the track. The parents of the kids were also informed. The postmortem on the bodies has been transferred to a government hospital.
According to the police, a case has been filed in this situation, and more investigation is ongoing.
