Director’s Counteroffensive: Kochi’s Landmark Cinema Review Bombing Case

Kochi City Police is now grappling with its first-ever cinema review bombing case, and it all started when the director of ‘Rahel makan Kora,’ Ubaini, lodged a complaint. He asserts, “There were deliberate attempts to degrade the film on social media.”

This legal saga was set in motion by the Kerala High Court’s concern over vloggers who produce what they call “motivated and calculated reviews” aimed at extorting and blackmailing filmmakers. Justice Devan Ramachandran presided over this issue, noting the negative impact of vloggers’ “foul play” on the film industry. In response to a petition filed by Mubeen Rauf, the director of ‘Aromalinte Adyathe Pranayam,’ who passionately sought action, the court made it clear that this form of malicious review bombing should not go unchecked.
