Fatal Road Accident Claims 13 Lives in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur

In a tragic incident on National Highway 44, a Tata Sumo carrying thirteen passengers, including a child, collided with a stationary mixer vehicle near Chikkaballapur Traffic police station on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad route, resulting in the loss of all thirteen lives. The Central Range Inspector General of Police disclosed during an interview with The New Indian Express that their initial investigation indicated the Tata Sumo had originated from Andhra Pradesh, en route to Bengaluru. The collision occurred as the Sumo struck the unmoving mixer vehicle, with eight individuals succumbing to their injuries at the scene, while the remaining victims were rushed to a hospital, where an additional five lost their lives.

Chikkaballapur’s Superintendent of Police, D L Nagesh, shared findings from the preliminary investigation, revealing that the vehicle had picked up passengers from various locations. To assist in identifying the victims, the police used the mobile phones of the deceased to contact their family members. Among the casualties, Aruna (22) hailed from Doddballapura Town, Narasimha Murthy (37) from Bagepalli, Narasimhappa (40) from Goratla Palli in Andhra Pradesh, Rithvik (6), the child and son of Aruna, from Doddaballapura, Perimilli Pavan Kumar from Goraguntapalli, Andhra Pradesh, Subbamma (66) from Bengaluru, Shanthamma (37) from Penugunta, Putaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, Rajavardhan (15) from Penugunta, Putaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, Venkataramana (51) from ODC Mandal, Andhra Pradesh, and Narayanappa (50) from Marakorapalli, Andhra Pradesh. The identities of the remaining three individuals are yet to be determined.
