“India is set to reopen select visa services in Canada, effective from October 26, as announced by its High Commission on Wednesday. This decision is expected to ease the recent tensions stemming from the murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
Last month, India took the step of suspending new visas for Canadians and requested a reduction in Canada’s diplomatic presence following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s statement regarding credible evidence of potential links between Indian agents and Nijjar’s murder, a Canadian citizen, in a Vancouver suburb in June. In response, Canada withdrew 41 diplomats.
India has consistently denied any involvement in the shooting incident. However, the Indian High Commission has now declared the resumption of certain visa categories after a security assessment and considering recent Canadian actions, which were not specified.
These visa services include standard entry visas, business visas, medical visas, and conference visas.”
