Police confiscated gold worth Rs 49 lakh from a passenger at the Kannur International Airport on Thursday. The accused, identified as Mustafa (33) of Salamath Mansil House, Chapparapadavu, was discovered with 832.4 grams of gold.
Mustafa, who had arrived from Sharjah in the morning, had ingeniously concealed the gold in paste form inside three capsules, which he had hidden in his rectum.
Surprisingly, the gold had evaded detection during the baggage screening process. Nonetheless, the police decided to detain Mustafa, who had already left the airport premises, based on their suspicions. The Airport police have subsequently registered a case regarding this incident.
