On Thursday, U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed that 74 American citizens holding dual nationality have been successfully evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Egypt amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. The announcement came during a meeting with Dominican President Luis Abinader in the Oval Office. The Rafah border crossing into Egypt, which had been closed for weeks due to the conflict, was reopened on Wednesday, allowing a limited number of wounded Palestinians and individuals with dual nationality to leave the Gaza Strip. According to National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, a total of 74 U.S. citizens and their family members have arrived on the Egyptian side, in addition to five Americans who departed the previous day. The situation is continually evolving, with hundreds of other foreign nationals and dual citizens also fleeing Gaza. Egypt has expressed its intention to assist in evacuating approximately 7,000 foreigners through the Rafah crossing, while Palestinian authorities at the border post reported that about 100 people were able to depart on Thursday.
