A young man found himself in judicial custody after he ignited his family’s home when they refused to finance his alcohol purchase. This unsettling incident unfolded in the Kavalam Panchayat of Alappuzha, Kerala, on a fateful Wednesday night. The accused, identified as Sudheesh S (24), residing in Velivakkal House, reportedly reacted violently to his parents’ denial of funds, resulting in the destruction of furniture and menacing threats.
Local residents who were alerted by the commotion intervened, witnessing Sudheesh pouring petrol on the house before setting it ablaze around 10.30 pm. While they managed to extinguish the flames, a section of the house sustained damage, prompting the accused to flee the scene. Subsequently, the Pulincunnu Police initiated a case and assembled a team under the leadership of Inspector Nissam S to apprehend the young man. With the aid of the Cyber Police, Sudheesh was located in Alappuzha City, where he attempted to resist arrest and assault the officers.
