Raipur: A commando of Commando Battalions for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite unit of CRPF, was injured in an IED blast. The incident occurred as a joint team of CRPF and CoBRA 206th battalion was out on an area domination operation from Tondamarka camp towards Elmagunda village in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh to ensure security during assembly polls. Inspector Shrikant belonging to CoBRA 206th battalion inadvertently stepped over the IED planted by Maoists.
The area falls under Konta assembly constituency. Konta is among the 20 constituencies where voting is being held Tuesday in the first phase of the two-phase elections for the 90-member state assembly.

Polling in 10 constituencies — Mohla-Manpur, Antagarh, Bhanupratappur, Kanker, Keshkal, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur and Konta — is being held from 7 am to 3 pm due to Maoist threat. In the remaining 10 constituencies — Khairgarh, Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon, Dongargaon, Khujji, Bastar, Jagdalpur, Chitrakot, Pandariya and Kawardha — people can vote from 8 am to 5 pm.
Around 60,000 security personnel, 40,000 of them belonging to the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and 20,000 from the state police, have been deployed for security.
