Heavy rain expected in Kerala until Thursday, yellow alert in 3 districts

Kerala is set to experience prolonged heavy rainfall until Thursday due to the influence of a low-pressure system forming over the southeastern Arabian Sea. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state can expect heavy rainfall ranging from 7 to 11 centimeters within a 24-hour period at specific locations until November 9. As a precautionary measure, a yellow alert has been issued for three districts: Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Idukki, indicating expected rainfall between 6 and 11 centimeters.

Furthermore, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) research center has raised concerns about the possibility of high waves, measuring between 1.1 to 1.7 meters along the Kerala coast and 1.0 to 1.6 meters along the southern coast of Tamil Nadu. These conditions, including sea incursion, are anticipated to persist until 11:30 pm on November 7. Fishermen have been advised to exercise caution when venturing into the seas during this period, with specific warnings against navigation in the direction of Lakshadweep. It is imperative for residents and seafarers to remain vigilant during this period of challenging weather conditions.
