A passenger arriving from Muscat was caught attempting an unusual gold smuggling operation on Tuesday. The individual had concealed 15 rectangular gold plates, totaling 1498.44 grams, within the battery compartment of a rechargeable emergency light, all wrapped in black tape.
Customs officers swiftly apprehended the accused, identified as Kaja Hussain from Palakkad, booking him under the Customs Act of 1962. The estimated value of the seized gold stands at 81.12 lakh, according to Customs officials.
