In light of its ongoing investigation into the alleged bribe-for-query matter, the Parliamentary Ethics Committee has recommended that Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra be disqualified from the Lok Sabha, sources informed India Today.
The Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee is investigating accusations made against Mahua Moitra, which state that the TMC MP targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Adani Group with questions in the Lower House at the request of businessman Darshan Hiranandani, in exchange for gifts and money.
Mahua Moitra, in the meantime, has denied all of these claims, referring to them as ‘false and defamatory.’ In reference to their assertions, she had also issued a legal notice to advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai and BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.
The government has been advised by the ethics panel to investigate the money trail connecting Mahua Moitra and Darshan Hiranandani, according to sources with knowledge of the matter.
The final report on the subject, written by the ethics commission, will be adopted on Thursday, November 9 at about 4 p.m. Members of the ethics panel voted to make a conclusion; the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies won more votes than the opposition parties.
