The Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), widely known as Milma, has taken a significant step to meet the evolving market demands by introducing its first-ever premium dark chocolate and butter biscuits. In a move that mirrors Amul’s earlier venture into the dark chocolate market, Milma now stands as the second dairy cooperative in India to present dark chocolate to consumers. This expansion of their product line includes three variations of premium dark chocolate under the DELIZA brand and a milk chocolate variant. Additionally, Milma introduces two variations of Milma Chocofull and Osmania Butter Biscuits and Butter Drops.
Milma’s Chairman, K S Mani, expressed the strategic significance of these new additions in the context of the ‘Repositioning Milma 2023’ initiative. He emphasized the cooperative’s commitment to crafting new, healthy, and nutritious options to cater to the health-conscious preferences of both the younger and older generations. Mani stated, “Introducing healthy options in the chocolate segment will further help Milma’s market expansion and diversification.”
The premium dark chocolates by Milma in this range boast over 50% cocoa content, which not only enhances mood and boosts the immune system but also reduces the risk of heart disease, as per the company’s official statement. Among the three variants, one offers plain dark chocolate, while the other two combine orange and almonds and raisins and almonds for a delightful twist. These chocolates are available in 35g and 70g sizes under the DELIZA brand.
The pricing for the DELIZA chocolates is as follows: 35g and 70g of DELIZA milk chocolate and DELIZA plain dark chocolate are priced at Rs 35 and Rs 70, respectively. Meanwhile, the DELIZA dark chocolates with orange and almonds, and raisins and almonds are available at Rs 40 for 35g and Rs 80 for 70g.
Milma’s latest launch also includes two variations of Chocofull, a health-conscious snack bar in the form of a chocolate bar. Chocofull is offered in two combinations – granola and fruits, as well as granola and nuts – at attractive prices of Rs 10 for 12g and Rs 20 for 30g.
Apart from these chocolate products, Milma has ventured into the biscuit market with the introduction of Osmania Butter Biscuits and Osmania Butter Drops, both made using Milma butter. The 200g Osmania Butter Biscuit is priced at Rs 80, while the 150g Butter Drops are available at Rs 70. These additions showcase Milma’s commitment to diversification and innovation, aiming to capture a larger share of the market and cater to the diverse tastes and preferences of consumers.
