Following the dissemination of an email to his coworkers that purportedly showed him masturbating on his office property, a civic body official in Kansas City, Missouri, was suspended. It is also anticipated that he will be released from active duty.
The email purportedly revealed Shawnee City Manager Doug Gerber in a compromised position, according to an article published in the New York Post.
According to the New York Post, the email with the subject ‘MOST IMPORTANT’ was sent to multiple employees from an anonymous account.
Gerber looked to have been alone when performing the sexual act, giving the impression that the video was taken by him. It’s unclear who shared the footage, though.
An anonymous individual sent an email to The Kansas City Star, a local daily, stating that he intended to ‘expose’ Gerber’s internet activity.
The sender of the email to the newspaper stated, ‘We don’t hesitate to expose people involved in these dubious and un-Catholic practises.’
‘This is just a disturbed individual trying to cause issues with the city,’ an employee said in a statement to the media regarding the incident.
Before being appointed as the city manager of Shawnee, Gerber was previously the subject of an investigation due to allegations of prior ‘impropriety.’
Shawnee Mayor Michelle Distler responded to the incident by stating that she was ‘not incredibly surprised’ by the scandal because to unspecified worries about Gerber’s actions during his prior employment in Topeka.
‘What I do know is that during the city manager hiring process, the governing body had been made aware of previous issues and accusations against Mr. Geber,’ she said in a statement.
‘The additional concerns I raised during those discussions were dismissed, and the council proceeded to choose Mr. Gerber, stating he was most closely aligned with their values,’ Distler added.
