BSF jawan killed by Pakistan Rangers in Jammu

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan lost his life in an incident of unprovoked firing initiated by Pakistan Rangers along the International Border (IB) in the Ramgarh sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district. This tragic event occurred early on a Thursday, marking the third ceasefire violation by Pakistan Rangers within a span of just 24 days in the Jammu frontier. The BSF soldier sustained injuries during the attack and was swiftly evacuated to a local hospital. However, his condition deteriorated, and he was subsequently transferred to the GMC Hospital in Jammu, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The Border Security Force (BSF) responded to the unprovoked firing with appropriate measures, as stated in their official statement. According to Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, the Block Medical Officer at the Ramgarh Community Health Centre, the injured BSF jawan arrived for treatment in the early hours of the day. The incident, which began around 12:20 am, escalated into shelling, causing fear and apprehension among the residents living along the International Border. This event is the latest in a series of ceasefire violations by Pakistan Rangers, with prior incidents on October 28 and October 17 causing injuries to BSF personnel. Remarkably, these hostilities continue despite a ceasefire agreement signed between the two sides on February 25, 2021, making it the sixth violation of the truce. The situation underscores the ongoing challenges and tensions in the region, which have had a profound impact on the lives of those living along the International Border.
