In spite of his numerous silver screen appearances, Kalabhavan Haneef has never been able to secure a prominent or leading role in movies. When questioned about his feelings on this matter during an interview, Haneef candidly stated, “I don’t demand anything from anyone.” He admitted to occasional melancholy but found contentment in the opportunities that did come his way. He also expressed his puzzlement at why directors, while acknowledging his impeccable comedic timing and praising his performances, haven’t cast him in more substantial roles.
Haneef elaborated on his approach, explaining that if he ever decides not to accept a role for any reason, there are a hundred others ready to step in. He conveyed his eagerness to seize the opportunities that present themselves, determined not to let them slip through his fingers.
Addressing his seemingly perpetual solemn expression in a comedy-oriented career, Haneef revealed his natural inclination not to smile frequently. He challenged the perception that those in the film industry lead exemplary lives, emphasizing that he lives a very ordinary one. He acknowledged that maintaining a constant smile isn’t feasible as life is filled with its share of ups and downs. Haneef also shared a valuable lesson from his father, which he has wholeheartedly embraced: “The importance of being kind to everyone, a gesture that is tax-free,” and one that he continually strives to embody.
