The National Zoological Park in Delhi is gearing up to introduce the acceptance of international Master and Visa cards to facilitate foreign tourists. According to Akanksha Mahajan, the director of the National Zoological Park, this move is expected to attract more foreign visitors to the zoo.
Mahajan explained that they observed foreign nationals who visited the zoo without a tourist guide faced difficulties when making payments at the ticket counters, often resulting in them turning back. Given that a substantial number of foreign tourists arrive in the national capital during the winter season, the zoo aims to enhance their experience by enabling them to use their international Visa or Master cards for ticket purchases. To achieve this, they have approached the relevant bank officials to update the payment facility.
In addition to card payments, the zoo will also offer a unified payments interface (UPI) facility, recognizing the growing trend toward digitization and cashless transactions in society. Responding to visitors’ requests, Mahajan stated that the zoo is actively working on implementing UPI and has received assurances from the bank officials that it will soon be available.
Furthermore, in an effort to streamline the ticket booking process and reduce congestion at the main ticket counters, two kiosks will be installed at the zoo’s main entrance. These kiosks, expected to be operational by Diwali, will provide a convenient way for visitors to purchase tickets. Additionally, free WiFi will be offered, allowing visitors to book their tickets with ease. These collective measures are designed to enhance the overall experience of tourists and make their visits more convenient and enjoyable.
