In Begusarai, Bihar, one of the doctors and some staff members allegedly beat a gangster to death when he went to a private hospital for treatment. After the incident, a number of the gangster’s supporters set fire to the hospital as well as the accused doctor’s six cottages.
The gangster Chandan Kumar had visited the Riya Hospital in Rupnagar village for medical attention. He was said to have been battered to death after a disagreement with the doctor.
His supporters claim that in addition to planning the murder, the doctor and other staff members killed the mobster using sharp objects. Ajit Paswan has been named as the accused doctor.
Once the hospital and the cottages were set on fire by the gangster’s supporters, the police raced to the spot. ‘The gangster used to visit the hospital for treatment. An argument ensued after the doctor refused to treat him, following which, the gangster was beaten to death,’ said SP Yogendra Kumar.
The officer went on to say that efforts are being taken to arrest the doctor and compounder connected to the incident, and a team led by DSP Amit Kumar has been assembled.
