According to accounts, Akram Khan, a former leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was shot and killed in Pakistan on Thursday. Details indicate that in Bajaur district (in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province), Akram Khan, also known by the name Akram Gazi, was shot by unknown assailants.
Gazi, who oversaw the LeT recruitment cell from 2018 to 2020, was well-known in Pakistan for giving speeches critical of India. He was a well-known member of the terror group with a long history of involvement in radical actions.
He was the leader of the LeT recruitment cell, an important unit tasked with finding and enlisting people who shared extremist beliefs.
The mastermind of the Pathankot attack, Shahid Latif, was shot and killed in Pakistan in October of this year. Latif, a terrorist from Gujranwala, Pakistan, was one of India’s most wanted individuals. In 2016, four terrorists broke into the Pathankot Air Force station with the help of Latif.
A senior Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist commander was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen earlier in September inside Rawalkot’s Al-Qudus mosque in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The terrorist was recognised as Abu Qasim, also known as Riyaz Ahmad.
After travelling from Kotli to offer prayers, Riyaz Ahmad was shot in the head at close range.
