Adimaly Panchayat Member Denounces CPM’s False Claims in Widows’ Begging Protest

Jincy Mathew, chairperson of Adimaly Grama Panchayat Development Standing Committee and ward member of 200 Acre, strongly refuted allegations linking her to the delay in welfare pension disbursal, which led widows to stage a begging protest. She accused the CPM of disseminating false information.

The Left party had claimed that pension delays were due to Jincy’s failure in the mustering process. Two elderly women, Mariyakutty and Annamma Ouseph, protested in Adimaly town, holding earthen pans as a symbol of their plight.

However, Jincy clarified that she completed the mustering process for Mariyakutty on April 5 and for Annamma Ouseph on April 18. She accused the CPM of deliberately hiding this information and conspiring against her, vowing to take legal action against the smear campaign and cyberattacks.

In response, panchayat member Babu P Kuriakose and Congress leaders C S Nassar and Happy K Varghese criticized the CPM, urging them to stop demeaning the elderly women who resorted to begging in protest. Instead, they called for immediate measures to ensure the swift disbursal of welfare pensions.
