Female Journalist Files Complaint: Suresh Gopi Set to Face Police on November 15

On November 15, actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi is scheduled to appear before the Nadakkavu police in connection with a case stemming from a complaint filed by a woman journalist, accusing him of misbehavior. The Nadakkavu police served a notice to the BJP leader on Friday, instructing him to attend the interrogation by November 18. The case, registered under IPC Section 354 (A-1, 4), pertains to allegations of sexual harassment through physically contacting a woman with unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures.

The woman journalist initially filed a complaint with both the Kozhikode City Police Commissioner and the Kerala Women’s Commission on October 28. The incident in question occurred on October 27, during Suresh Gopi’s media interaction at a Kozhikode hotel. A video surfaced online, capturing the actor placing his hand on the journalist’s shoulder, prompting her to push it away twice. Despite Gopi’s subsequent apology, wherein he claimed to have treated the journalist with affection, criticism persisted, asserting that his conduct was inappropriate.

Expressing severe mental anguish and damage to her self-esteem, the woman journalist affirmed her intent to pursue legal action against Suresh Gopi to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. Alongside her complaint, she submitted a video of the incident to the city police commissioner, who then forwarded it to the local police station for further action.
