Thamarassery Ghat Road Traffic Disruption Expected Amid UDF Protest on Nov 13.

Thamarassery police have enforced traffic restrictions on the Ghat road section between Wayanad and Kozhikode on November 13, anticipating a UDF protest. The Congress-led UDF aims to express discontent over the deteriorating condition of the Ghat road under National Highway 766.

According to the police, no large trucks will be permitted on the Ghat Road from 7.30 am on Monday. UDF leaders assure minimal disruption to passengers, with DCC president ND Appachan stating, “The rally would march down in one or two lines through the narrow stretches.” Appachan emphasizes the Congress’s commitment to ensuring a smooth passage for all vehicles and passengers.

The protest, spanning 13 km from Lakkidy, Wayanad, to Adivaram, kicks off at 7.30 am. The Wayanad Ghat Road, already under scrutiny for travel disruptions, is poised for more protests in the coming weeks as both political factions plan rallies. On October 22, the road witnessed a complete standstill, trapping hundreds of vehicles in a nine km stretch.

Key leaders, including Kalpetta MLA T Siddique, parliament members K Muraleedharan, and MK Raghavan, are expected to participate in the upcoming UDF agitation.
