Violence erupts in West Bengal: TMC leader killed, suspect lynched amid rising tension.

In Joynagar, South 24 Parganas district, a tragic incident unfolded on Monday as Saifuddin Laskar, a local Trinamool Congress leader and Bamungachi area president, was fatally shot near his home. This grim event led to a swift and violent response from Laskar’s supporters, who apprehended an alleged assailant and administered a fatal beating, as reported by eyewitnesses.

The tension escalated further as accusations emerged from local TMC leaders, pointing fingers at CPI(M) supporters for orchestrating Laskar’s murder. In retaliation, CPI(M) supporters in nearby areas claimed that Laskar’s followers vandalized their homes and set some on fire in the aftermath of the incident.

Expressing condolences, CPI(M) central committee member Sujan Chakraborty emphasized the need for a thorough police investigation to apprehend the culprits and uncover any underlying conspiracies. Chakraborty dismissed blame on the CPI(M), stating, “The murder of Saifuddin Laskar is the result of internal strife within the TMC; it is no use blaming the CPI(M).” The incident underscores the volatile nature of the political landscape, calling for a measured and comprehensive inquiry.
