Ernakulam Mahila Cong General Secretary Suspended Following Husband’s Deception of Aluva Rape-Murder Victim’s Parents

The Mahila Congress took swift action on Thursday, suspending Haseena Muneer, its Ernakulam general secretary, pending an investigation. This decision follows allegations that her husband embezzled Rs 1.2 lakh from the parents of the Aluva rape-murder victim, a five-year-old girl.

L Anitha, the state general secretary (organisational affairs), stated that Haseena’s suspension was necessary to prevent disrepute and embarrassment to the Congress party.

Sources reveal that the accused man misappropriated the funds, purportedly for relocating to another rented place. Subsequently, he returned Rs 70,000 when the family decided to file a complaint against him.

The heinous incident occurred on July 28 when Ashfaq Alam, a Bihar native, abducted and brutally raped the couple’s daughter, leading to her tragic death. The Ernakulam POCSO Court handed down a death sentence and five life terms to the convict on November 14.

In the aftermath, the victim’s family, concerned for the safety of their three remaining children, opted to move to a new residence. Congress MLA Anwar Sadath assisted the family, stating, “I handed over the advance amount to the person in question and asked him to make the necessary arrangements. However, he also took the advance amount from the girl’s father.” MLA Sadath emphasized that the accused was not affiliated with the party and when exposed, resorted to threatening suicide while falsely blaming the MLA.
