Following in the footsteps of Rashmika Mandanna and Katrina Kaif, Kajol finds herself ensnared in the alarming trend of deepfake videos. Over the past month, the internet landscape has witnessed a notable surge in these manipulated videos, blurring the delicate line between reality and fiction. Among these, a deepfake featuring Kajol has gained widespread attention, circulating across various social media platforms.
BOOM, a prominent fact-checking platform, investigated the incident and revealed that the original video belonged to a social media influencer, with Kajol’s face digitally superimposed onto the footage. Interestingly, the manipulated video briefly exposes the face of the original woman. According to BOOM’s report, the initial video was shared on TikTok on June 5 as part of the popular ‘Get Ready With Me’ (GRWM) trend.
In light of these events, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently underscored the severe threat posed by deepfakes to India. He emphasized that such manipulated content has the potential to incite chaos within society. The Prime Minister called upon the media to play a crucial role in educating the public about the far-reaching implications of deepfake technology, urging collective vigilance to counteract its negative impacts.
