Violent Hazing at Neyyattinkara Polytechnic: Student Assaulted and Targeted in Disturbing Incident

A distressing incident unfolded at Government Polytechnic College in Neyyattinkara, where a first-year student fell victim to a brutal ragging assault. According to reports, a group of 20 individuals orchestrated the attack on November 14, leaving the student severely injured.

Following a complaint lodged by the student’s parents, Neyyattinkara police have initiated a case. The complaint details the harrowing assault, revealing that the perpetrators kicked the student in his private parts and struck him in the abdomen, causing considerable pain. The victim received initial medical attention at Neyyattinkara General Hospital before being transferred to an Ayurvedic treatment center.

In response to the incident, the college has expelled four students implicated in the violence. Meanwhile, the parents of the victim claim to face threats from a group pressuring them to withdraw the complaint.

In instances of severe ragging involving violence, legal action can be pursued under specific sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These include Section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 324 for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, Section 325 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt, and Section 326 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
