During the inauguration of the Nava Kerala Sadas, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan didn’t shy away from targeting the Congress, BJP, and the media, while notably showing favor towards the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a group currently under the CPM’s strategic focus.
In a comprehensive 55-minute address, Vijayan highlighted his government’s accomplishments since 2016, drawing comparisons with the UDF’s tenure from 2011 to 2016. Despite the data-heavy discourse, the weight of information led to a significant departure of nearly 90% of the audience before the speech concluded.
Interestingly, the smaller tent dedicated to receiving complaints remained bustling with activity, garnering around 2,000 petitions by the end of the day, according to a government Public Relations official. However, post-speech, Chief Minister Vijayan and his ministers left without engaging with the attendees or complainants, opting for a departure in their special bus.
This event is part of a broader initiative where the Chief Minister and his council of ministers tour all 140 assembly constituencies, presenting government achievements, accepting complaints, and engaging with the public under the umbrella of Nava Kerala Sadas. Despite this, the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) has chosen to boycott the event, labeling it an election campaign funded by taxpayers.
